normandy Sherwood

Normandy Sherwood is theater maker: playwright, costumer, director, performer.  Her plays have been presented at many theaters, including The New Ohio Theater, The Kitchen, 13th St Rep, Dixon Place and Skidmore College. She creates work with two theater companies: The Drunkard's Wife (Feather Gatherers, Tiny Hornets) and the OBIE-award-winning National Theater of the United States of America (NTUSA) (Chautauqua!, The Golden Veil, Abacus Black!).   She is a MacDowell Colony Fellow and has been an artist in residence at Yaddo, the Millay Colony, the LMCC and chashama.   Her children's book, Animals vs. Furniture (illustrated by Jesse Hawley) was published by Ugly Duckling Presse in 2013.  She is also a costume designer and has designed plays by Mac Wellman, Young Jean Lee, Tina Satter, Jim Findlay and Faye Driscoll (Bessie Award, 2009).  She is one of 5 curators of Little Theatre @Dixon Place and she teaches in the Expository Writing Program at NYU.   She has an MFA in playwriting from Brooklyn College.
