Announcing The Awst Press Book Prize
Awst Press is seeking engaging literature in all genres for our first literary competition. Final selection will be made by guest judge, T Kira Madden.
Awst’s mission is to encourage diversity in perspective and form. After many years of acquiring manuscripts by solicitation only, we are opening submissions to find something new—the book we didn’t know we needed. We are looking for high quality literary fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and unforeseen combinations thereof.
PRIZE: The first-place winner will receive $1,000 and publication with Awst Press. The second-place winner will receive $500 and publication.*
ENTRY FEE: $30
DEADLINE: The contest will remain open from February 15th to May 15th.
CONTEST GUIDELINES: The Awst Press Book Prize is open to previously unpublished manuscripts in all genres. Because the contest will be judged blind, please do not include your name or any identifying information on the manuscript. Manuscripts may have individual stories, poems, or essays that have appeared elsewhere, but the work as a whole must be original and unpublished. If applicable, please include an acknowledgements page listing the publication of individual pieces in the manuscript.
We are accepting manuscripts for full-length books (roughly 120-300 pages), as well as manuscripts for our pocketbook series (60-120 pages). All submissions must be sent through Submittable.
The best way to know if your manuscript is a good fit for Awst is to read the work we’ve published. A wealth of content from our authors is available for free on our website, and for a limited time we will be offering a discount on the entry fee with the purchase of one of our full-length titles through the website.
