We've taken on an exciting side project influenced by one of our local organizations. Inside Books Project is a volunteer organization that sends free books to prisoners in Texas. We were so moved by the awesome work IBP does, we wanted to get involved.

Texas prisons do not accept notebook donations because they are for sale in the commissaries, but we think there's too much power in the written word to allow for any sort of barriers to writing. We've created the Storyteller’s Handbook, a book of 40 writing prompts from Awst Press authors to help incarcerated individuals chronicle their personal narratives. Members of the Awst team have worked hard to curate and design the book, and we will provide them to IBP and other similar organizations to distribute these books for free to inmates.
