We're pleased to announce our next book slated for release February 10, 2020.
Hezada! I Miss You takes place in rural, middle-America the day the last travelling Midwestern circus arrives in a village it has visited for a century of summers. The circus is on its last leg, as is the village. A boy uses a crutch to push himself on a skateboard. A woman sees her past from her future. A trapeze starlet has changed tents after a radical mastectomy. The circus boss’s assistant hopes to retire after this show. The storefronts are empty.
Hezada! I Miss You is an unconventional love and death story that explores tradition, wish, and identity. Amidst empty buildings and country roads, Hezada! I Miss You balances a villager’s unexpected death on all we know (and don’t) about ourselves and others. This is the circus we’ve watched fray and fall for years. This is the village that highways and interstates don’t come close to.
Told in lyrical yet stark language, Hezada! I Miss You is Midwestern Gothic writing at its finest.
