This year's anniversary snuck up on us. Nine years and we're still going strong. We've been extra busy over the last year bringing forth what will soon be a total of four books.
In September 2022, we published Is That All There Is? by Marcelle Heath. It was recently named as a finalist for the 2022 Big Other Book Award for Fiction.
Another 2022 book, Mike Ingram's Notes from the Road was also recently recognized as a finalist for the 2022 Big Other Book Award for Nonfiction. Follow this link to see Mike reading from his book.
In April, we published Deanna Cachoian-Schanz's translation of Shushan Avagyan's A Book, Untitled. Watch for a possible second book tour later this fall. This week, the UK version was listed for an English PEN Translates award.
In October, we have two books coming out. One is our second book from Erin Pringle, Unexpected Weather Events. If you are in the Spokane area, she'll be having a launch party at Shadle Library at 2 PM on October 1st.
The second book is our last winner from the 2019 Awst Press Book Prize contest. Long delayed because of the pandemic, Anne Ray's Scenic Overlook will also be debuting on October 1st at the Brooklyn Book Festival. If you're in the area, please come visit us at the Awst Press table between 10 AM-6 PM. There'll also be an event the next night as part of the Brooklyn Book Fest "Book Ends" off-site reading: Monday, October 2, 6:30 pm at Pete's Candy Store. Four of our authors will be there: Anne Ray, Mike Ingram, Andrew Yang, and Edward M. Cohen. We are super excited!
Both books are currently available for pre-order (follow book links above). If you've got your eye on either title, take advantage of our pre-order discount and free shipping before 9/22. And you don't have to limit yourself to these titles! In celebration of our anniversary, we're offering a discount and free shipping on all of our books.
In other Awst news, we've added Caitlyn Miller as our publicist. If you're interested in reviewing any of our books or interviewing an author, please email her at publicity@awst-press.com.
Because of our packed production schedule, we're taking a different approach to the essay series this year. Don't worry, though, we have plenty of reading suggestions! Over the next few weeks, we'll be reposting some of our favorite essays from years past. Each year we've focused on a topic that felt urgently important... these days it can be hard to know where to look and which fire to put out first. This historical survey is a kind reminder that we've all been working together on righting many issues for a long time.
Once a year isn't often enough, but let us carve out this moment to say thank you once again for supporting our authors and their work. We couldn't do this without you!
