We had a wonderful experience launching David Olimpio's book, This Is Not a Confession, at the equally wonderful Deep Vellum Bookstore. We had more people than chairs and we had more book sales than expected—that makes it a success! Kendra Fortmeyer and Tyler Gobble filled out the list of readers, and both were widely appreciated by the audience. Overall, it was a great night for literature.
If you haven't had a chance to visit Will Evans and company at the bookstore, you should do that. We have chapbooks and a stack of David's books there for sale alongside an impressive selection of other books including Deep Vellum's works in translation. Deep Vellum is doing some great things in Dallas (and the world) and is worthy of huge support. Check out their upcoming book review in The New Yorker.
Tonight, we'll be in Houston for a reading with David Olimpio and Kathryn Peterson at Beans Cafe Coffeehouse. Check out the FB event page for more details.
After tonight, David heads back to the East Coast. There's an event scheduled in Lexington, VA next weekend, Philadelphia, PA in May, and then back to Texas for the Austin party at BookPeople in June. Connect to our Facebook page to stay informed about these events.
If you can't make it to these events to get an autographed copy, you can order a copy either through our website or at SPD books. Or, visit your local independent bookstore.
Today, we are wrapping up our chapbook series curated by Owen Egerton. If you haven't already, check out Bob Schneider's interview that's up today. There are plenty of chapbooks left to buy. We'll announce places/events soon where you can buy them in person.
We're announcing our third author soon. Watch for the press release later this week.
We are taking a break on chapbook series until the Fall. In the meantime, we'll be working on our next two books, a new broadside series, and the annual essay series. We'll be busy behind the scenes even if you don't hear as much from us.
Finally, we have new developments happening with our team. Again, with the announcements...watch for them soon.
Thanks for supporting our authors!
